We have many air conditioning service and repair customers – especially homeowners in Ocala and Dunnellon – asking us if it is time to replace their R-22 HVAC system.  In some cases, now is the time to consider new AC installation.  Others may be able to prolong the life of their unit with routine AC service.  Are you wondering if new AC installation is warranted?  Let’s take a look at a few scenarios to help you decide.

Scenario #1

Your R-22 HVAC system is in good working condition

If your unit is fairly new and/or in good working condition, there is probably no need to consider new AC installation at this time.  It is, however, extremely important to have us come out at least once a year and perform routine AC service.  During this time, we will check for leaks, perform AC repair on any leaks we do find and recharge the system if necessary.  This will help prolong the life of your unit.

Scenario #2

Your HVAC unit has some years under its belt

If your unit is older, or, if it has required significant AC repair over the years, now may be the time to start thinking about new AC installation.  While the urgency is not there quite yet, everyone will eventually need to replace their R-22 units as the refrigerant becomes more scarce and costly to acquire.  And, if you want to wait as long as possible to replace your system, routine AC service is definitely recommended.

Scenario #3

Your HVAC unit is barely making it

If you have had multiple AC repair calls over the past year, it may be time to consider new AC installation.  You do not want to take a chance of the system failing during the colder winter months or sweltering hot summer.
